Magnetic Makeup Board

Tawk of the day_      "I can do all things through Christ whom gives me strength"

So as many of you bloggers are aware,
Magnetic Makeup boards are taking over!!
They've quickly replaced over-stuffed organizers, drawers, & makeup bags.
I have decided to join in :)

Here is my magnetic makeup board::

I made the green one for me to match my bathroom decor.. and I made a white framed one for my little sister for her Christmas gift... She's a makeup-aholic..

This is how I made it:

These 2 pictures were in a pile of crap at my grandparents' house that were given to me
{score} :)

Jhoey's bedroom is on the brink of being redone and decorated so for her makeup board  I chose an Ivory color {it will go with whatever she chooses to do her room in}.. I purchased the Krylon brand DUAL with primer already mixed in..
For my board.. I knew I wanted to hang it on the wall of bathroom because that is where I do my makeup, so I chose a color that would fit the decor... Krylon CELERY with Primer applied first of course.

Take apart all the backing.
My pictures had staples holding it in place so I flipped those up and removed the picture/glass.
Leave the staples in!! .. These will hold your piece of metal!

Give your frames a little sanding.. Not really that necessary.
Find some boxes or anything that sits high and set your frames on and paint!...
{Thankfully, my little boy goes through diapers quick so I had some laying around.. }

{before glaze attacked them..}

You can get already cut steel at lowes or home depot, but my frame was an odd measurement so I had the hubby pick me up a sheet of steel and I cut it.. [fearing the life of my little fingers as I cut lol..]

My frames backing was staples.. so this made it nice to hold my frame in place. but a pain in the 'you know what' to get the steel in with the staples staying up ..

After you get your steel in place.. Hot glue fabric back 'TIGHT' .. with dabs.. (those little dots you see are the glue lol) .. and I also hot glued around the whole frame to help 'seal' in the steel!
...Yes, the back is not very pretty, but who sees it right? ..

Yes.. That is allll my makeup in that container.. but I only put magnets on the makeup that I use most often..
Magnets are from Wal-Mart.. $5. something.

Now time for the fun part!...

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!!
Come back again:)

  11. This is one of the most brilliant ideas ever! Thank you for sharing. I saw this on a pin from pintrest and had to go to the original link to see the tutorial. I have a quick question, though: did you wrap fabic around the steel? You only showed the back, so I assumed that you wrapped it around the front and then glued the back. Anyways, great idea!

  14. I don't like it. I like makeup hidden from view. Messes with the decor!

    1. That's cool, it's not yours TO like;) .. I guess if makeup plays a huge part in your personality then it is necessary to have it displayed somewhere! Have a blessed day ANON

  15. Cute! I bet you could save on magnets, and hot glue the applicators, not the tube, of mascaras and lip colors. Then, simply switch out the old stuff for the new!
