Simple Shutters to fancy up a kitchen window

Simple Shutters to fancy up a kitchen window..
Want to see what I'm talking about?.. Keep reading then to see what I did!!

When we moved into this house, what you see in the above picture is one of the things that was left with it..
Yeaa, not too pretty at all.. the green inside part is falling apart, old, and ugly.. but the shutters..

These puppies look as if they can be fixed up to look cute/shabby chic..  HMMM..

With a dry brush, I just brushed on some off white paint I had in the basement..
That's it.. That's all it needed for the look I was approaching.

Close up of it.. No top coat or sanding needed for me!!!

This is my kitchen window that needs something added to it..
It's kinda plain, not unique in the least..
sooooo.....

This is what I had in mind..
A touch of shabby-ness..
PERFECT! I love how it looks!

No hammering in place needed.. These babies sit cute and still all on their own!!

So if you decide you do not want them anymore, they won't leave any marks!

Whatcha think!?!
I like them :)

  3. What I think is it looks fab! It really does give a shabby look, and to me helps your cabinets pop. Great thinking on your part, and it really dresses up your window area. You did good girl! Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration over at Sunday's Best!

  6. Good thing you were able to save the shutters. And it totally looks good on your kitchen window! I love the washed-out style you did. It adds some rustic feel on the kitchen window. Totally chic and awesome!

  9. That’s a great smart idea to fancy up a window. Who would have thought that shutters can be a nice décor inside the house? This is a cool idea using shutters for a unique purpose. It certainly made your kitchen window 'sui generis' and cute.
